2- THE BIRTH OF EVENTALISM

  Eventalism was born of a desire to verify this law of renewal of Nation’s Histories. In the research project, the law was set out as a hypothesis to be validated. Next, the subject of the experiment was chosen : the USA during the period of its foundation and the growth of the American continent ( until the end of the XIXth century ).

  Finally it was necessary to determine which past Nation the USA was to have renewed. A potential answer had been suggested by the philosophers of the last century, such Alexis de Tocqueville : ROME. The History of ROME, during its foundation and expansion within Italy ( until the beginning of the IIIth century BC ) can be compared event by event with those of the USA.

  Before beginning this comparison, a methodology was defined. This included strict rules to observe and not forcibly correlate any event in Roman History with any event in American History. It also imposed a « blind » numerical technique so that the analogous research would not be influenced by « intuitive » judgements.
